The Cast of Les Miserables (Movie Edition)

Voila! I drew this a few weeks ago, and as a consequence, some of my coloring techniques are different. And I got the Thenardiess' hair wrong. Oh, woe is me.

Jean Valjean: I have to say, I'm pretty happy with how this fellow came out. I drew him in the outfit he wore when he found little Cosette. That part was so adorable. :D
Javert: Besides the deplorable lack of a hat, I'm pretty satisfied with my little Javert.
Fantine: I couldn't decide whether to draw her before or after the haircut, but I decided on before. That way I could draw that pink dress, and have more color on the page. XD
Little Cosette: Pitifulness personified. I put little smudges on her face, and the maid cap was fun to draw.
Thenardier: Ugh, slimy man. Despite the festive mug of beer in his hand, he still looks sort of stern. Huh. Dang, those mutton chops.
Thenardiess: 'Thenardiess', I'm pretty sure that's what Victor Hugo called her in the book... I'm not too happy with this one. -_-"
Cosette: Now she's clean, happy, and totally in love.
Marius: I... wasn't sure how to render his interesting hair. Nor was I sure what color to make it.
Eponine: Looking really sad and poverty stricken. :( I sort of changed the colors of her clothes after seeing the movie again, but it's not too big a difference.
Gavroche: He's got himself a little gun, not sure what to make of that. I gave him a pin, but it looks a little too red.
Enjolras: And his flag. Huzzah! Yikes, what's got him so angry?!

So... yeah. I also have the cast of the Book, and what I thought they all looked like before I read the book. Huzzah!
I need to stop saying that.
One more time.

Tricolor Rosette

Oi! I said I was going to put up some crafty stuff, and here it is. If you've seen the Les Miserables film, you may have noticed that all the revolutionary dudes had little Tricolor Pins attatched to their jackets, hats, etc. Well, I thought it'd be great for my brother's Halloween costume this year, so I got myself a reference picture, and charged ahead on with it.

To start, you're going to need all that in the above picture. Red, White, and Blue fabric, Scissors, Thread, a Safety Pin, and obviously, you won't get far without a needle.



Cut one strip from each color. The strips should be about 1/2 an Inch to an Inch wide, depending on how large you want the diameter of your pin to be. And they should be roughly 13 to 14 inches long. It all depends on how big you want the pin to be, I suppose.

 

Great. Now's time to start assembling. This part takes the longest. You'll want to have a lot of thread in the needle, but not too long, since it might tangle. Go ahead and sew together the strips of fabric, like so.

 

 



 Once they're all assembled, you're ready for the really tricky part.

 



Fold the fabric onto itself like you see in the above picture, and the following ones.

 

When you've folded it into a full circle, tuck any remainder of the fabric into the back.

 

Here's where a pin would really come in handy. Stitch through the center of the Rosette so that it stays assembled. Stitch through several times to make sure that you've secured it adequately.



 



The next part is relatively easy. Just stitch a safety pin onto the back. Go over it a few times to make sure it's secure, then you're done.

 



Looks great on vests, hats, and jackets. :D

The Cast of Lost

Here's the (most of) the cast of Lost as of Season One. I forgot Rose, Danielle, and Ethan. But who wants to see an Ethan Chibi, anyway? XD

Jack: Well... Here he is. I don't think I really did anything special with him. You know, he's Jack. He doesn't really have a distinct 'look'.
Kate: Kate came out really well. I don't know if you can tell, but I gave her a backpack. XD
Charlie: Hmmm, I drew his mouth open. Probably singing "You all everybody!!"
Sawyer: He's got a gun. And he just shot himself a Polar Bear.
Sayid: I like how Sayid came out. I wasn't too sure about how his facial hair looked, so I made a wild guess.
John Locke: He's covered in blood and sweat from his last boar hunt. And he's apparently taken Boone in as his Padawan Learner, or something.
Jin: Urgh... I am not too pleased with this chibi... Let's move on as quickly as possible...
Sun: Sun looks a lot better. I tried to draw her face looking kind of nervous, but she just looks depressed. :P
Michael: Yikes Michael, that shirt with those pants? Bad coloring job on my part. XD I swear though, I think he was wearing that outfit in one of the episodes.
Walt: Without Vincent. I wish I could draw animals, but the last time that was attempted, it ended in disaster.
Claire: She's got her hat, so she's happy. Yes. That's supposed to be a hat.
Hurley(Hugo): Aww, I love Hurley. He's looking typically anxious. I guess the poor guy just doesn't want to be the one around when Claire has more 'baby stuff'.
Boone: Is it just me, or does Boone have kind of... creepy eyes? Well, even if it's just me, I'm still drawing him with these weird blankish eyes.
Shannon: "Ugh! Boone! Stop being such a load! Hey, hey Charlie! Catch me a fish! C'mon Sawyer, give me back my inhaler! Never mind. Sayid! Kiss me, baby!"
Ahem. I drew her in that pink outfit that I think she was wearing on the pilot.

So there they are. As the series goes on, I'm probably going to have to cover Ben Linus, Juliet, Miles... Urgh... I have a long journey ahead... XD

Don't Tell Locke What He Can't Do

Anybody else seen the show Lost? We're currently plowing our way through Season 1.
Anyway, looks like Boone the creepy-eyed sister kisser has just gotten on John Locke's bad side. Again. Probably not for the last time.

 



Sorry about the strange blue quality of this picture. I honestly have no idea why the picture came out that way. But I let it lie, because the colors in this one aren't too important, and you can still clearly read the dialogue. :)

Deeply Odd (by Dean Koontz) [2013]

Alfred Hitchcock rides shotgun in the newest 'Odd Thomas' novel by Dean Koontz. The plot does indeed hold similarities with the Master of Suspense's work: A quirky hero, almost nonsensical plot twists that fly in the face of logic, and a strange charm that sets it apart.
Deeply Odd lives up to it's name, and has some of the highest stakes our hero has faced.
As the young, ghost-seeing fry cook struggles to thwart yet another tide of evil, he is assisted by a host of interesting allies. A tough old lady, a family of gun dealers, and the aforementioned Mr. Hitchcock.
The emotional facets of this book aren't so deep as they are in some of the other books in the series, but it still holds the same old themes of bravery and responsibility.
In short, Deeply Odd is a fun, clever, engaging read, especially if you hail from the Southern California area.

The Verdict: A-
Notes: This is a horror novel, so be careful. Odd Thomas books don't get over-the-top gory, but they are occasionally scary, and always suspenseful. Though the most inappropriate things about Odd books are the sometimes rude humor and mature subject matter. I'd also suggest reading the other books before this one. Just to avoid confusion.

Hiya!

Hello people of... Everywhere!
I'm real exited to be starting this blog, which exists mostly as a place for me to share my silly little Chibi Comics. I might throw out something besides that every now and then, but that's this blog's Raison D'Etre.
Oh, and Chibis... I suppose I should explain what those are.
Chibi is Japanese for 'Little Person', roughly. And they're highly stylized drawings of people, animals, and all that. Some Chibis are really impressively drawn, and others (like the ones you'll see here), are more simple.
So, in a few days time, I'll probably start putting up comics and such, so be on the look out for that!
