I loved this book. Very easily one of my favorite books ever, and you know what that means! Chibi cast!
Voila! I hope you like them! Sorry the pictures are a bit small, this is as big as I could get it without blogger going all insane on me and making it so big it blots out the sun.
Oh, speaking of things that blot out the sun...
Check out this Rosca that we found at El Super! It's HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGEEEEEE!!!

Momo Chibis!
Hi guys! Yesterday was my Piano and French finals, and I so can't believe that it's over! I already miss my friend I was going to school with (even though we'll totally see each other again in January when school starts up again, at the very latest). But it was nice, I think I aced my Piano final (though at the end of my song, there were three notes to be played at once, and accidentally only played one. Derp!)
So anyway, I have some chibi comic ideas, but I forgot to write them down, what with my Finals and such. XD So here, enjoy these chibis of the cast of Momo! Momo is a wonderful German book (my Michael Ende) about a mysterious orphan girl who has the unique ability to help people just by listening to them talk about their problems. Once people listen to Momo, they are suddenly able to go and fix their problems. Then one day, strange and creepy gray men start appearing all over town and begin to steal people's time. It's a really good book, and I highly recommend it. :)

The Brothers Karamazov Chibis
Enjoy this little cast sheet for everyone's favorite 900+ page existential* Russian novel, The Brothers Karamazov!
I'm only 342 pages into the book (if I had stuck to my schedule, I'd be 500 pages in, but I got lazy.), but I'm enjoying it a lot (except for that one chapter...) and when I really like a book or movie, I want to draw chibis of the characters. :)
Alexei 'Alyosha' Karamazov: The pure-hearted, 20 year old novice at the local monastery. Alyosha is a sweet character, even if he is a little too perfect maybe (I'm less than halfway through though, and he seems to be developing at bit). I drew him in his cassock, but I don't know if he's going to go through with the holy orders. Elder Zosima told him that maybe he was called to live outside the monastery, so I don't know where that plot thread is going...
Fyodor Karamazov: The drunken, deadbeat father. I guess I kind of exaggerated the whole ugly thing, but in all fairness, his description in the book isn't much better.
Ivan Karamazov: Whew. Enjolras, hand over your medal for Nuttiest Fictional Character and clear the way for Ivan Karamazov! Ahem, spoilers. Ivan is a rather interesting character. He's the second-oldest son, and an atheist intellectual. However, his philosophy is a little (okay, a lot) more complicated than that. I really wonder where his characters is going to go from here!
Dmitry Karamazov: The eldest Karamazov brother. I guess Dmitry takes after his dad a bit in the ways of drinking and being kind of a loser. Dmitry is relatively sympathetic, but I have to confess that I have a tendency to forget things that happened 100 pages ago, so I can't quite remember if I like Dmitry or not. :P
Lise: Let me just pause a sec to make a public apology for that poorly drawn wheel-chair. [shudders] Anyhoo, Lise is a teenage girl who likes to tease Alyosha. She actually wrote a dopey love letter to him just to play a silly prank and see what would happen. Except that Alyosha actually said that if he doesn't join the monastery he'd be happy to marry her. Because Lise is just that kind of girl, she takes it in stride and doesn't seem to care that her practical joke is now near reality.
Katerina: Dmitry's fiancée. But Ivan may or may not also be in love with her. Curse you bad memory! I drew her with kind of a mean face, but Katerina's not actually that bad. She's hot headed and likes to be a control freak, but she's pretty decent. And I like how her little babushka came out. :D
Elder Zosima: Elder Zosima is kind of like Bishop Myriel from Les Miserables, in that he's the saintly Religious man who's probably going to die. Poor guy, I like him!
Smerdyakov [Is he a Karamazov?] : If your name is Smerdyakov, aren't you legally obliged to be a sinister illegitimate child?
Grushenka: Ah yes, the beautiful and seductive temptress... Grushenka. Maybe it's just me, but that name more screams out 'old lady at your average Byzantine Catholic parish'. Anyway, I don't know where Grushenka's character is going (in fact, I probably should have waited to post these until after I finish the book!), but I put her down here all alone so that she doesn't tempt anyone away from their fiancées. Hear that, Dmitri?!

The Cast of Storage Room!
Allright, it's time to hold my breath, close my eyes, and leeeeeaaaaap... and finally publish this post.
I've started a new comic strip (with my own characters, not based on real life happenings) to have some fun with, and I just finished drawing out all the characters. Storage Room is going to be about a bunch of friends who hang out in the cramped storage room behind one of their uncle's dive-y restaurant. The main character is Timothy (But he prefers Timmy, and never just Tim, because that would make him sound like a Dickensian orphan), and the comic basically follows the goofy shenanigans of him and his friends.
Here's everyone, and now, because I'm weird and obsessive about my chibis, I'll introduce them all. :)
Timothy- Timmy here is the aforementioned main character. He likes Hockey (I project my own emotions onto my characters :P) and runs Track and Field at his community college. He has a rather abrasive (and sometimes abusive) sense of humor, but his friends know that most of the time it's all in good fun. Most of the time. Despite the fact that Timmy is quite confident, he gets insecure about the weirdest things. The only person he isn't that mean to is his girlfriend, Mireille, and other ladies (except for members of NOW), because Timmy believes in chivalry. (Again, me projecting onto the characters.)
Rene- Okay, I sort of lied when I said these characters weren't based off of anyone. Because I totally based Rene off of those pretentious, rich kid hipster types I bumped into when I went to college for a day with my friend. Anyhoo, Rene (as his foreign, high-class name suggests) comes from a filthy rich family (Descended from the Scandinavian kings of old!), and is honest to the point of being rude. He's often petulant and sullen, and spends an awful lot of time reading about conspiracy theories. F-for laughs, of course. ;) Like Gru, Rene has a phobia of dating.
Alexander- The most successful, academically, of all of them. But you could probably tell that just by looking at his nerdy glasses and argyle vest. Sigh... stereotypes. Alex likes to read, especially those really, really long books that are about 700+ pages long. Because he listens to his common sense the most, Alex often gets labeled as 'the wimp', but he has plenty of opportunities to say "I told you so!" when the others are suffereing the consequences of their impulsiveness. But because he's nice, he only says that sometimes. He also plays Cello. :D
Mireille- Fashion expert and pink enthusiast. But despite the fact that she loves tiny animals, sparkly things, and pretty nail polish, Mireille isn't all sugar 'n spice. She might be kind of an airhead, but when Mireille sets her mind to something, she does it. She's very playful, and maybe a little flirty, but unlike Ado Annie, Mireille can say no, and often does, because she's very faithful to her sweetheart, Timmy. Oh, and forgive the random Oklahoma! reference. Just listened to the CD, feeling a little brainwashed...
Shelly- Mireille's best friend. Unlike her BFF though, Shelly is actually more interested in being smart than being current, and wants to be a dentist when she graduates from college. Unfortunately, he ambition to be what is basically a torturer kind of scares the others, though she's trying to convince everyone that dentist does not equal evil. When she's not studying, Shelly likes to go out and have fun at the beach, or pool.
Malcolm- Malcolm longs to be a lumberjack, despite the fact that his parents want him to take up the family business, which is Dairy Farming. Everyone finds Malcolm's destructive tendencies a little disturbing, but his ladyfriend, Shelly, finds then endearing and manly (Shelly refuses to date men who aren't manly).
Frankie- Timmy's shy and timid roommate, and probably the youngest of the gang. Timmy has taken it upon himself to 'show Frankie the world', but Frankie obviously would rather stay home and read, or work with animals. He has kind of a crush on Alice, the mayor's sporty and vivacious daughter. But of course, he can never seize the opportunity to talk to her.
Denise- The black-wearing Barista who works in the restaurant (which is more like a café that also serves full meals, now I think about it) to pay her college tuition. Denise is exceedingly snarky and sarcastic, and this (despite her best efforts) actually endears her to the others. She has a tendency to be jealous and self-pitying, and holds lifelong grudges against people for the smallest offences.
Rene's Uncle- The owner of Café de le Palourde Claquer. Or just 'The Cafe'. Rene's uncle is actually Alexander from a timeline where he and Timmy went back in time to change something, and Alexander got left behind by accident. So The Other Alex accepted his fate of being stuck fifteen years in the past, and got married to a lovely blonde woman who was actually Rene's aunt. The others however (even Alexander) don't know his true identity, so they just call him Rene's Uncle. Because he's just another Alexander, his personality is basically the same, except that being a bartender, he's not afraid of using force and 'being mean'. Oh yeah, and I guess I neglected to mention before that Time-Travel is possible in this universe. :D
Colette- I haven't done much with her yet, so I'm not sure of her fully personality. But for starters, Colette is a sweet, slightly timid, girl taking art classes so that she can get a Degree in Design.
Holly- Okay, we're getting into tertiary characters. Holly is Timmy's three year old sister (he has five sisters, but Holly is the only one who ever actually shows up in the comics) who absolutely adores him.
Mr. Howard- Timmy's godfather, and his dad's best friend. Mr. Howard is happily married, and just so happens to run the rival café. He and Rene's Uncle still get along, though.
Jiminy- Yeah, minor characters now. XD Jiminy is rather paranoid and hypochondriac, and is also trying to get a degree in art, like his little sister Colette.
Andrew- A drunken fratboy who is here because I can think of a few things to do with him, but I still don't know if I want to keep him in. :P It's always nice to have some extras around, though.
Alice- The mayor's perky daughter who is in Frankie's Algebra class. Whenever Frankie gets the opportunity to talk to her, he panics and makes a fool of himself.
Okay this post is getting waaaaaaay too long, so here's the bottom row (and the row we just went through :P) that is just alternate outfits for the characters.
I um... hope you like them! I hope to have some comics up.

Les Miserables(Book Cast)
Voila, in all their Bookish-Glory!
I probably got some hair colors wrong or something, but this is how they looked in my head while I read the book. Well, okay, they didn't look like shrill blobs of something vaguely human shaped, but you know what I mean, right? XD
Jean Valjean: Why did he come out so tiny? It seems like they just gradually get bigger as the page increases... I think it's because bigger chibis are easier to draw, but I wasn't sure how much room I would have on the page. Poor Jean. He's supposed to be bigger than everyone else! Well, the outfit he's wearing at the moment is supposed to be how he'd go out to the Luxembourg Gardens. Except that he forgot his hat.
Javert: Looking at least somewhat different than his Musical Self. Sad thing is, I always just imagined Javert to look like the actor from the 10th Anniversary, and it doesn't look like anything can dispel that mental image... Ah wells.
Fantine: Having just been fired from the factory. She's all anxiety ridden, and has a patch on her clothes. That indicates um... poverty.
Little Cosette: Poor kid. Looking pretty miserable. I always feel a little odd drawing a terrified child.
Thenardier: I wanted a change from his Sergeant at Waterloo outfit, so I made him dressed like I thought he might be in the 1832 part of the story.
Thenardiess: Tried to make her exactly like the book described her. A monstrous woman with ugly hair... Yeah. Hard to believe this lady likes romance novels. XD
Cosette: Hm. Purple Hat with a Black Dress. Really, Cosette?
Marius: I know, the book said that he had jet black hair. But If I colored his hair like that, he'd be completely black with no other colors. So I had to change it to dark brown. XD
Eponine: Obsessive, jealous, and maybe just a little crazy. So in other words, pretty radically different from her well-groomed musical self.
Gavroche: He has a hat! And is pretty dirty looking, but looks no less happy. He's also apparently making fun of Enjolras behind his back. Speaking of which...
Enjolras: Yeah. Smoking gun. Not good for a certain undercover member of the Patron-Minette. I don't know why I drew him holding the flag though. I mean, in the book, he's not as protective of it as he seemed to be in the movie. XD
G'day!

The Cast of Emma
... another cast. This time (as the title would indicate), I'm covering Jane Austin's Emma! Of Jane Austin books, I've only read Pride and Prejudice, but I really liked watching the movie/tv series of Emma. So as soon as I'm on Christmas vacation, I can read it. Huzzah! Unless I don't finish Henri Fabre, or Peter O'Keefe on time. [sighs] I suppose I've got my work cut out.
Anyways, I've been ranting too long. On with the cheesy drawings! :D
Emma: I'm happy with how she came out. She's wearing a party dress, and holding that little globe from the beginning of the Movie Adaptation.
Mr. Woodhouse: I sure hope I captured that dull throbbing hypochondria.
Mr. Knightly: Grr... I can't draw sideburns to save my life. But I feel Mr. Knightly here looks okay. Tried to make him look a little surly, but far from mean, of course.
Harriet: With her basket full of food and such for the people who live near Emma's house. Looking quite lovestruck by Mr. Elton. Which brings us to our next quarry...
Mr. Elton: I really hope I got the Minister outfit right. Well, in case you can't tell what he's supposed to be (and if you can even read my blurry handwriting), he's got a little book that says 'Minister'. Yeah.. creative name for the book. XD
Jane Fairfax: She looks rather nervous. I would be too, if I was standing next to Mr. Elton, I suppose.
Frank Churchill: Got mixed feelings on Mr. Churchill here. He's a fun character, but he also let Emma believe he was in love with her while actually being engaged to Jane. Rrgh, that's a little frustrating, right there. The actual chibi on the other hand, I like. He's based off the movie adaptation, the version most recently saw. In that one, he's got weird rocker hair. O.o
Miss Bates: Just bursting with the latest news from Jane Fairfax! Oh my!
Well, I hope you like them!

The Cast of Les Miserables (Musical Edition!)
Yeah, it's not a comic, and consequently, is not funny. :(
Oh well. These versions of the characters are based on my original mental images of the characters, which were in turn based on the 10th Anniversary. So if they appear in comics, it's probably for jokes that only make sense in the context of the musical.
There. Over-explained. :D
Jean Valjean: Looks like Off-Duty Santa Claus! :D
Javert: With his giant sideburns, top hat, and threatening club thing.
Fantine: I kind of like how her clothes came out. More specifically, the sleeves. I try to go as accurate as possible with the costumes, and last time I checked, Fantine usually has sleeves kind of like that. Huzzah!
Little Cosette: Her hat looks a bit too much like a mushroom cap. Sort of like one of the Mushroom Heartless from Kingdom Hearts.Hey, I should draw some of those! ^_^
Thenardier: I don't particularly like the character, but I'm very pleased with this chibi. You probably can't tell from the picture, but I think I got the apron and the jacket right.
Thenardiess: Oi... what do you think of the hair mountain? XD
Cosette: For some reason, I decided to cop out of being 'accurate' for this chibi. I know her outfit is black and white, but for some reason, I thought that purple really popped.
Marius: He's got a rockin' pile 'o hair.
Eponine: In her little barricade disguise. Except that her hair's down. So maybe this is from On My Own?
Gavroche: "PACKERS!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!"
Enjolras: Wearing that... interesting vest.Did he lose a bet or something? Anyways... Wonder what's got him so fried.
Well then, there we have it. I should put up the Book Cast soon.
Cheers!

Enjolras: Wearing that... interesting vest.
Well then, there we have it. I should put up the Book Cast soon.
Cheers!

The Cast of Les Miserables (Movie Edition)
Voila! I drew this a few weeks ago, and as a consequence, some of my coloring techniques are different. And I got the Thenardiess' hair wrong. Oh, woe is me.
Jean Valjean: I have to say, I'm pretty happy with how this fellow came out. I drew him in the outfit he wore when he found little Cosette. That part was so adorable. :D
Javert: Besides the deplorable lack of a hat, I'm pretty satisfied with my little Javert.
Fantine: I couldn't decide whether to draw her before or after the haircut, but I decided on before. That way I could draw that pink dress, and have more color on the page. XD
Little Cosette: Pitifulness personified. I put little smudges on her face, and the maid cap was fun to draw.
Thenardier: Ugh, slimy man. Despite the festive mug of beer in his hand, he still looks sort of stern. Huh. Dang, those mutton chops.
Thenardiess: 'Thenardiess', I'm pretty sure that's what Victor Hugo called her in the book... I'm not too happy with this one. -_-"
Cosette: Now she's clean, happy, and totally in love.
Marius: I... wasn't sure how to render his interesting hair. Nor was I sure what color to make it.
Eponine: Looking really sad and poverty stricken. :( I sort of changed the colors of her clothes after seeing the movie again, but it's not too big a difference.
Gavroche: He's got himself a little gun, not sure what to make of that. I gave him a pin, but it looks a little too red.
Enjolras: And his flag. Huzzah! Yikes, what's got him so angry?!
So... yeah. I also have the cast of the Book, and what I thought they all looked like before I read the book. Huzzah!
I need to stop saying that.
One more time.
Huzzah!

The Cast of Lost
Here's the (most of) the cast of Lost as of Season One. I forgot Rose, Danielle, and Ethan. But who wants to see an Ethan Chibi, anyway? XD
Jack: Well... Here he is. I don't think I really did anything special with him. You know, he's Jack. He doesn't really have a distinct 'look'.
Kate: Kate came out really well. I don't know if you can tell, but I gave her a backpack. XD
Charlie: Hmmm, I drew his mouth open. Probably singing "You all everybody!!"
Sawyer: He's got a gun. And he just shot himself a Polar Bear.
Sayid: I like how Sayid came out. I wasn't too sure about how his facial hair looked, so I made a wild guess.
John Locke: He's covered in blood and sweat from his last boar hunt. And he's apparently taken Boone in as his Padawan Learner, or something.
Jin: Urgh... I am not too pleased with this chibi... Let's move on as quickly as possible...
Sun: Sun looks a lot better. I tried to draw her face looking kind of nervous, but she just looks depressed. :P
Michael: Yikes Michael, that shirt with those pants? Bad coloring job on my part. XD I swear though, I think he was wearing that outfit in one of the episodes.
Walt: Without Vincent. I wish I could draw animals, but the last time that was attempted, it ended in disaster.
Claire: She's got her hat, so she's happy. Yes. That's supposed to be a hat.
Hurley(Hugo): Aww, I love Hurley. He's looking typically anxious. I guess the poor guy just doesn't want to be the one around when Claire has more 'baby stuff'.
Boone: Is it just me, or does Boone have kind of... creepy eyes? Well, even if it's just me, I'm still drawing him with these weird blankish eyes.
Shannon: "Ugh! Boone! Stop being such a load! Hey, hey Charlie! Catch me a fish! C'mon Sawyer, give me back my inhaler! Never mind. Sayid! Kiss me, baby!"
Ahem. I drew her in that pink outfit that I think she was wearing on the pilot.
So there they are. As the series goes on, I'm probably going to have to cover Ben Linus, Juliet, Miles... Urgh... I have a long journey ahead... XD
